Virtual Spring Fairs

Career Fairs are right around the corner!

Our first major fair of the year will be on Wednesday, February 10th. The Spring Career & Internship Fair has a broad range of employers from tech, consulting, finance, non-profits, healthcare, and more. As the semester moves along, we’ll have more niche fairs that focus on smaller industry subsets. On the Friday 19th, for example, the Design and Creative Career Fair will host employers from architecture, urban planning, communications, and entertainment.

Science, Data, and Tech Virtual Career Fair – Friday, 3/19/2021

If you missed attending a virtual fair in the Fall, here’s a quick overview of what to expect:

Employers will be hosting 10 minute, 1-on-1 sessions as well as 30 minute group sessions. When the fair opens for registration head over to Handshake and sign up to speak or listen to any employers of interest. Most employers will be using the built-in video options within Handshake, but some my have external systems set up to conduct meetings by Zoom or another platform. Either way, you’ll log into Handshake on the day of the fair to navigate through your schedule. For more info, check out this video on getting the most out of virtual fairs.

Tips for virtual fairs:

  • Make sure you can find a quit room or location with few distractions for both yourself and anyone who will be meeting with you by video.
  • Practice your ‘elevator pitch.’
  • Research companies of interest to generate questions you may have about their organization or roles they’re hiring for.

If you’re itching for more details on fairs, we did a larger FAQ back in the Fall.
