Make sure your future employer is committed to workplace equality

In recognition of Pride Month, here are some resources to help ensure that your future employer is committed to workplace equality:

Human Rights Campaign – Corporate Equality Index 2021

The Human Rights Campaign puts together an index of top companies that have incorporated key nondiscrimination policies, equitable benefits for LGBTQ workers and their families, support an inclusive culture, and demonstrate corporate social responsibility. It’s a detailed report of 767 of the best places to work for LGBTQ Equality. Check out who made the report and some of their key findings: https://reports.hrc.org/corporate-equality-index-2021

Questions for Employers: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

While we usually think of the candidate being in the hot seat, interviews are also a great time for you to ask pointed questions to help decide if a company is right for you. We put this guide together as a way to help candidates ask questions that will get to the heart of what specific measures an employer has in place to show their commitment to DE&I beyond the common soundbites. Think about what things you value most in the organization’s commitment to diversity and what steps are necessary to help you feel broad for the employer you may soon be working for.

Out & Equal

Out & Equal has tons of resources available in their effort to achieve workplaces of equality and belonging. Many of their toolkits & guides are focused on concrete examples of how organizations or employee resource groups within organizations can begin to take tangible steps towards achieving that goal. Check out their Outie Awards recognizing individuals and organizations who are leaders in advancing equality for LGBTQ+ people in workplaces globally.
