Submitting your resume to the career fair resume book:

This year, for the BioSciences Career Fair, we will be sending a resume book to registered employers prior to the career fair so that they can reach out to students/postdocs directly before, during, or after the event. If you would like to have your resume included in this resume book, then please follow the instructions below. These steps will need to be completed by the 17th October for your resume to be included.

Step 1:
Pre-register for the career fair by visiting and clicking on “Join Event” under the Career Services logo on the right hand side of the page. Follow the direct link to the career fair below this message.

Step 2:
Make your Handshake profile visible to employers by following these instructions:

Upload a resume to your profile and make this your “featured” document by selecting “Feature on Profile”. You can find instructions here:

Please note:
A 1-3 page resume is ideal for resume books. Academic CVs that are >3 pages don’t work as well in this format. Please come for walk-ins at Career Services (2-3pm on weekdays in the basement of the McNeil Building, and 12-2pm in Stemmler 105 on Wednesdays) to get a review of your materials prior to the career fair.

To have your resume included in the resume book, you must complete the steps above by end of day on Thursday 17th October

Making the most of career fairs:

The employers attending this fair provide an insight into many of the common careers pursued by STEM graduate students and postdocs. Begin your exploration to determine career options for when you complete your graduate degree or postdoc. Talk with the employers and/or sit in on the info sessions to gain an unprecedented insight into opportunities that match your career goals

But I am in the middle of my degree/postdoc!
Great! The best time to network is when you are not looking for a job, and when information is all you are looking for. Employers want to be kept busy during a career fair. They want to talk to as many interested and interesting students/postdocs as possible. The more engaged they are at the fair, the more likely it will be that they will keep coming back to future career fairs. You may not be applying for job this year, but at some point you will be, and so take this opportunity to make a connection at employers that might one day be on your shortlist. You can connect with these employers each year (and throughout the year) to learn more about future opportunities, and when you are ready to apply, you’ll be glad that they are attending this event.
