Information for Athletes
You have learned and honed many valuable skills as a Division I Varsity Athlete. In fact, what has made you successful as an athlete can also make you competitive for jobs and internships. Each of these skills is a strength you bring to a working environment. By becoming comfortable communicating how these abilities translate to a particular position, you will be able to more successfully demonstrate how you have the skills and experiences to succeed in almost any professional environment.
The Pottruck Center for Student-Athlete Success
The Pottruck Center for Student-Athlete Success creates a positive experience during the student-athlete lifecycle through a holistic approach to personal growth and development during their time at Penn.
At Penn we believe that your four years as an undergraduate are meant to prepare you for the next 40 years. The Pottruck Center for Student-Athlete Success is a vital resource to student-athletes as you pave a path for life after graduation. Looking to Network with Former Penn Student Athletes?
The Penn Athletics Mentor Program is an innovative program that matches undergraduate Penn student-athletes with former Penn student-athlete alumni in a mentor/mentee relationship. This relationship provides student-athletes with insight into career possibilities and the job procurement process, networking opportunities, and acts as a sounding board for additional life decisions. For mentors, it is an opportunity to stay involved with Penn Athletics and establish a relationship with current student-athletes that share a similar Penn experience.

Advisor Spotlight
As one of the advisors serving students in the College of Arts & Sciences, I am excited to be expand my portfolio to work with the 1,000+ student-athletes at Penn! I’m Laura and a former student-athlete myself, coxing for the women’s rowing team at Gonzaga University. During my tenure at Gonzaga, our team competed at the NCAA championships twice and at one of the world’s largest regattas, Head of the Charles. After years of working in higher education, and completing my master’s degree in Sport Business, I am excited to serve student-athletes. I am passionate about uplifting all student-athletes and demonstrating best-practices showcasing your skillset!
As a former college athlete, I understand the demands that come from many different directions during the college journey. My name is Dustin and I am an Associate Director on the SEAS team here at Penn Career Services! Being able to balance academics, football, Student Athlete Advisory Committee President, working on campus with Admissions, and other responsibilities, I still prioritized my career planning. Developing a resume, updating it, completing informational interviews and internships and more career-based initiatives were still a part of my plan. I attended the NCAA National Convention two years in a row during undergrad, which sparked my love for working in Higher Education, specifically Career Services, and always providing an advocate voice for Student-Athletes. I believe all of us as Student-Athletes, both former and current, have unique skills and abilities that translate to life after athletics. I’m happy to help you find what those are for your individual and one of a kind journey!
