The Clinical and Research Program in Pediatric Psychopharmacology is seeking to hire a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to aid in ongoing research studies, including but not limited to the following:
- Systematic data collection and procedural compliance for longitudinal and intervention studies examining substance use and attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) under the supervision of Dr. Timothy Wilens, including but not limited to:
- A longitudinal study of outpatient behavioral health patients (ages 16-30) at Massachusetts General Hospital as part of a National Institute of Health-funded prevention grant (HEAL initiative, https://heal.nih.gov/research/new-strategies/at-risk-adolescents).
- An interventional trial testing the efficacy of a novel digital health technology in treating substance use disorders (SUD) in inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Studies examining the impact of stimulants and other treatments in patients with ADHD (with and without SUD) utilizing electronic health records on the risk for later prescription misuse, stimulant and other SUDs as part of a Food and Drug Administration Study.
- A study to evaluate an FDA-approved stimulant medication in the treatment of adults with ADHD who also manifest SUD.
- Systematic data collection and procedural compliance for studies in Massachusetts General Hospital’s Youth Experiencing Homelessness program under the supervision of Dr. Colin Burke, including but not limited to:
- An observational study of stress reactivity among transitional-age youth (ages 16-25) experiencing homelessness.
- Ongoing studies developed in partnership with Bridge Over Troubled Waters, a psychosocial agency serving youth experiencing homelessness in Boston.
The CRC would be responsible for overseeing study recruitment procedures, monitoring the pace and progress of the studies, and serving as a main contact for study collaborators, participants, the various clinics involved within and/or outside the Massachusetts General Hospital, and external employees and staff. This position will require regular interactions with patients by way of remote or in-person study visits. Responsibilities may include—but are not limited to—consenting patients and ensuring study comprehension, monitoring completion of study interventions, participant assessments, and surveys, tracking progress in the computer database, and corresponding with the Mass General Brigham Institutional Review Board (IRB), the National Institute of Health (NIH), and/or the FDA and study sponsors/stakeholders. In addition, the CRC will attend weekly meetings with the study PIs, Dr. Wilens and Dr. Burke, and study teams across sites.
The CRC will also be expected to assist the Principal Investigator with the preparation of manuscripts, presentations, and posters related to other data sets that have been compiled in the recent past. General duties may also include conducting phone screens, cognitive testing, and vitals collection for studies within the department. Candidates should have a BA/BS with a strong GPA. We are seeking a candidate with exceptional organizational skills and a keen attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work well independently as well as with co-workers, peers, and supervisors; ability to effectively and efficiently handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision and adapt to changes in responsibilities and workloads; and must possess a high degree of integrity and have a strong work ethic.
