Coffee Chats


Employer coffee chats (or office hours) allow for employers and students to connect informally for 1:1 or small group conversations. Coffee chats are “open” sign-up interviews, which means any student that are interested in learning more about your organization can sign up for an interview on a first come, first served basis. During coffee chats, students reserve a 15 or 20-minute time-slot to meet with your organization’s representative(s). Conversations are informal and allow students to learn more about your organization, receive feedback on their resume, ask about your application process, and practice for interviews. Coffee chats typically take place at local coffee houses near campus for a period of 2-3 hours. We recommend employers contact the coffee house in advance to inquire about reserving space. You can see a list of suggested venues here.    Rooms may be requested in Penn’s on-campus interviewing suite for an additional fee of $100 per room beginning Monday, October 28th, 2019 and schedules can be managed in Handshake.  For interview rooms in the OCR suite, submit your request in Handshake under the “interview request” tab.  Due to high demand for our recruiting facilities, coffee chats scheduled prior to November 2nd will have to be scheduled at coffeehouses only, and the schedules must be managed by the company. In those cases, Career Services is happy to advertise your coffee chat event on Handshake.  Once you have confirmed a venue, please submit a request in Handshake under the “events” tab that includes a link for students to sign up.
