Decoding the MCAT: Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS) Workshop Pt 1
The Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills (CARS) section of the MCAT can feel daunting and confusing. Students tend to be so heavily focused on the content-based sections that they are often uncertain about how to prepare for the CARS section. This is the first of a two-part workshop series that will provide a 360-degree view on the section and teach you the most effective strategies for boosting your MCAT score. Led by Owen Farcy and Dr. Mandy Siglin of Helica Learning Experience.
Registration via Zoom is required to receive the access information. Please remember to register for the part 2 of the series separately.
Learning Objectives:
1. Recognize the CARS section framework, the role formal logic structures play in its design, and their relevance to medical school admissions
2. Understand key elements of effective approaches to reading comprehension and analytical reasoning to aid in student success
3. Implement section-level and passage-level CARS reading strategies appropriate to variations in content and student testing style
4. Identify CARS question types and employ appropriate problem-solving strategies on a question-by-question basis
This is a free event for UPenn undergraduates and alums. Attendees will be provided with follow-up materials to practice on their own.
