Ever wonder what happens after you click “submit” on your application? This panel pulls back the curtain on the faculty hiring process, offering advice directly from the people who review the materials, lead the interviews, and make the decisions.

Join a panel of humanities and social sciences faculty who have served on search committees as they share candid insights into what committees are really looking for and what makes an applicant stand out in a crowded pool.

Panelists will share their perspectives on which documents they read first, how they evaluate written materials (especially when reading quickly), common mistakes that can hurt a candidate’s chances, and ways to demonstrate cultural fit. This is a rare opportunity to hear honest, experience-based advice from faculty who have sat on the other side of the table.
