Grad Standardized Tests

The most common standardized test taken for graduate school is the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

You may also need to take a GRE Subject Test in one of six areas, including psychology, English literature, biology, mathematics, chemistry and physics. Graduate programs in business accept the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).

You should plan to take any standardized tests well in advance of submitting your application so the scores arrive on time.

Students considering joint degree programs with law or medical schools will need to take the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) or the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT).

The amount and kind of preparation needed depends upon the test and your baseline strength with the assessment.  We suggest learning as much as possible about the tests and taking a practice test to gauge how much you may need to improve.  You are welcome to discuss your study plans with an advisor.
