Boston Children’s Hospital has been named the country’s #1 pediatric hospital by U.S. News & World Report, seven years running. The Heart Center Clinical Research Program is looking for an immediate hire of a clinical research assistant to work on multiple projects under the direction of a variety of investigators from the Cardiovascular & Critical Care Cluster of Clinical Research Excellence (CVCC Cluster) and Dr. Joshua Salvin. Dr. Lynn Sleeper is the Scientific Director of the Heart Center Clinical Research Program and faculty lead of the CVCC Cluster. The CVCC cluster is (CVCC) Cluster of Clinical Research Excellence is a research collaboration between physicians and scientists in the fields of cardiology, cardiac surgery, intensive care, pain management, and nutrition. The Cluster supports the creation of patient contact tools, specialized databases and a biobank that will help improve the quality of clinical research for future investigators. The CVCC Cluster also designs and carries out research studies on children with special conditions that require treatment by cardiac and intensive care specialists. Dr. Joshua Salvin is an attending in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) whose research focuses on Risk-based Patient Monitoring for Pediatric Cardiac Patients.
Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s degree and should be highly motivated. Candidates should have the ability to multi-task, have strong attention to detail, work under multiple priorities and deadlines and interact with faculty, staff, patients and families. There may be opportunities to participate in manuscript writing and authorship.
The Clinical Research Assistant will participate in patient recruitment, obtaining informed consent, enrolling participants, collecting data, extracting data from the medical records, entering data into the database, working with the IRB, participating in team meetings, mailing medications to patients, transporting samples to the biobank, engaging with patients and families in the clinic and CICU, and other administrative activities as required.
This is a 2-year minimum position. The starting salary is $40,000 with the opportunity to be promoted after your first year. This is a 40 hour/week position, but flexible hours may be needed due to collecting specimens from the operating room during a heart transplant that sometimes occur at odd hours. - A BA or BS is required
