Canyons of the Ancients National Monument hires seasonal park rangers every summer to assist with fire, biology, archaeology, recreation and visitor services programs. Positions are seasonal in nature and generally run from 4-6 months from April through September depending on the start date. Curation Internship at Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center & Museum
The National Council for Preservation Education (NCPE) offers internships in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management to connect post-secondary students and recent graduates in historic preservation, cultural resource management, museum studies and related fields to internships at a wide variety of parks and offices. NCPE intern will assist the Bureau of Land Management-Canyons of the Ancients National Monument Visitor Center and Museum Curation Program with BLM archaeological collections and project documentation, focusing on cataloging and proper storage of items from sites on BLM-Canyons of the Ancients National Monument, as well as inventory of exhibited and stored archaeological collections. Intern will be provided broad exposure to the workings of a DOI bureau curation facility and gain experience with the fundamentals of collections management: collections and exhibit inventory, cataloging, storage of artifacts, data entry into ICMS (Department of the Interior’s cataloging system), and organization of associated documentation. This position includes housing.

Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps Internship (Individual Placement) at Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center & Museum
Ancestral Lands Conservation Corps partners with the Bureau of Land Management to hire indigenous youth to work a 12-week internship in Visitor Services at Canyons of the Ancients Visitor Center and Museum. Interns work alongside front-line staff at the Visitor Center and Museum, orienting visitors to cultural sites, providing interpretation and education to school groups and audiences of all ages while assisting in curation and archaeology programs.

Wildlife Technician: GS-0404-05
Seasonal wildlife technician for the Tres Rios Field Office. Position includes raptor surveys, maintaining wildlife guzzlers, wildlife species surveys, and vegetation monitoring. Performs the full range of aid type duties and a variety of technical duties in support of wildlife programs, such as inventories of wildlife and their habitat. Researches, compiles, and tabulates a full range of wildlife inventory data; Leads lower-graded technicians/aids in the collection of data. Processes samples and specimens from the field, organizes food or habitat samples; transports injured wildlife. Interprets aerial photos, landsat imagery, and topographic maps to determine land use and vegetation distribution. Enters/retrieves data from automated databases. To perform duties of this position requires the use of motor vehicles. In most cases this will be a 4-wheel drive vehicle or UTV.
