Position Function:Provides nursing services and assists in the coordination of medical services at Carson Valley Children’s Aid. One weekend a month plus some week day shifts. Evening 5p-10 p included.Essential Job Functions:Major highlights of the position requirements are noted below. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.Provides routine nursing care to all children/youth as assignedAdministers prescription medication to children/youth in accordance with Agency policy and proceduresProvides first aid to children and staff in the event of an injuryProvides and/or coordinates emergency medical care in accordance with Agency policy and proceduresCompletes all medical documentation in accordance with Agency policy and procedures. Insures that medical personnel document medical services provided in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.Insures medical supplies are kept up to date as assigned.Provides medical education to children/youth and families as assigned.Serves as member of the treatment team and develops and implements individual medical service plan as assigned.Monitors the need for medical services and coordinates the provision of needed medical services as assigned.Completes health assessments as assignedInsures that all medical records meet federal, state, local regulations and practice standards as well as Carson Valley Children’s Aid policy and procedures.Performs other duties as assigned by direct supervisor.Facilitates professional, respectful and positive working relationships with team members, residents, families and community resources.Participates in the agency’s continuous quality improvement process.Provides training to team members as requested.Maintains continuing education credits as required to comply with professional licensing regulations and agency training requirements.Participates regularly in the supervisory process.Responsible for timely, periodic submission of all required clearances and physicals.QualificationsTraining Requirements:All new hires are required to go through mandated orientation.Must pass CPR and First Aid Training.Must pass Safe and Positive Training.Comply with Agency Annual Training requirements.Education/Experience Requirements:Pennsylvania professional licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse and at least one year experience working in a social service agency serving children and families or comparable experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Valid driver’s license from the state in which you reside in and proof of car insurance, daily access to vehicle.Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, and techniques; of health promotion and disease prevention; of nursing management of available health care resources; of nutrition and diet therapy; and of the functions of various clinical departments.Ability is required to assist in the development, organization, and implementation of an effective nursing care plan; to provide education and training; to assess condition and needs of patients, families and communities appropriate to the care setting; to take appropriate intervention; to counsel and teach patients and families; and to provide direction or guidance to non-licensed personnel in assigned area of responsibility to ensure quality care.Knowledge of available health programs and resources; of federal and state rules and regulations concerning health services; of accreditation, certification and licensure standards; of preventive health practices; of principles and methods of teaching; of nursing standards; and of nursing policies and procedures.Ability is required to develop, plan, and implement an effective nursing care programWork Environment and Primary Work Locations:Primary location is Flourtown Neighborhood CenterPhysical Considerations:Ability to cope with moderate to high levels of stress, make quick, sound decisions and deal effectively with children and families served in crisis situations.Must be sufficiently mobile to travel throughout the campus.Must be flexible to work hours as duties demand, including weekend days and evenings as needed.
