Primary Function:The Hardware Engineer Intern position will provide dedicated hardware engineering support for the Supply organization. This includes the resolution of production support issues, evaluation of obsolete parts, maintenance of legacy hardware platforms and identification/implementation of cost reduction opportunities. The position will require interaction with Engineering and Supply peers as well as external suppliers. Supervision of Associate Engineering technicians and contractors, including prioritization of activities, technical direction and procedural support, is also required. Responsibilities and Duties· Analysis and resolution of production and field issues related to analog, digital and microcontroller-based electronics hardware.· Verification of alternate part source opportunities and the identification of cost reduction opportunities. Includes proactive interaction with component manufacturer’s and local sales representatives.· Analysis and resolution of electronic part obsolescence issues, and timely response to end-of-life issues affecting production.· Supervision of Associate technician(s) and contractor(s). Will include priortization of activities, technical direction and procedural support.· Management of hardware verification processes. This will include the development of test procedures and detailed documentation of verification activities and design investigations.· Participation in hardware discipline activities including hardware design reviews. Includes direct interaction with Hardware Technical Manager during development of discipline processes.· Development of detailed product design knowledge. This ongoing responsibility is required to provide timely production support and identify potential cost reduction opportunities.· Proactive production yield analysis and design improvement implementation.Qualifications and Required Skills· Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.· Minimum 0 – 2 years of hardware design and/or support experience required. Analog/digital circuit design experience preferred. Schematic Capture experience preferred. (Mentor Graphics experience a plus).
