As a Data Science Intern, you will have the opportunity to work on real-world projects and gain hands-on experience in using machine learning and predictive models to solve business problems.
What You’ll Do as a Farmers Intern
This is a full time 40 hour a week, paid, 10-12 week Summer internship.
You will develop crucial and highly valuable data analytics skills as well as soft skills through the course of your internship. This is an opportunity to work alongside accomplished professionals and gain valuable skills for your future. Additionally, you will learn how we use innovation and technology to drive our business forward and through project work, job shadowing, hands on work experience, and exposure to Farmers leadership teams to expand your knowledge and experience. Some duties of an data science Intern include:
- Under direction, use appropriate modeling techniques to address business needs.
- Broaden knowledge and application of modeling techniques and procedures.
- Support preparation of internal/external, structured/unstructured data sets to build/rebuild/refresh predictive models.
- Clearly communicates complex technical concepts and data insights to non-technical stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring as a Farmers Intern
- Ability to manipulate and analyze data to address and solve business problems
- Familiarity with Python or similar languages for machine learning.
- Preferred but not required: proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A passion for learning and development.
- Willingness to independently learn and make an impact within a team environment.
- Self-motivated, an excellent problem solver and a quick learner.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Education You’ll Need
- Currently pursuing a Bachelors (BS/BA) or Masters (MS/MA) degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics or Computer Science.
- You must be a student enrolled in an accredited college during the duration of the internship.
- Specifically, a rising Junior or Senior level undergraduate student or graduate student.

This internship is a Hybrid opportunity, where you will be onsite 3 times a week.
