Experience: None required (experience in LTC/geriatrics preferred).
General Responsibilities:Responsible for performing a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents and to coordinate total nursing care for residents; coordinating work within the unit as well as with other departments and units; reporting pertinent information to the R.N. Nurse Manager or the Director, Nursing Services; responding to inquiries or requests for information; overseeing Nursing Assistants and Licensed Practical Nurses in completing their assignments.
Essential Duties:Perform a variety of duties to provide quality nursing care to residents, and to coordinate total nursing care for residents.Oversee the delivery of nursing care to the residents and maintain consistency in the daily operation of the nursing unit.Assess residents and analyzes obtained information to developing nursing diagnoses.Plans and implements individualized care plans for residents based on assessment; evaluates the effectiveness of developed care plan and updates as appropriate.Administers medications and treatments to residents; administers I.C. fluids, supplemental nourishments.Performs rounds according to established schedule; document progress, deterioration, changes in condition and all other pertinent information.Informs Physician of changes in resident conditions, orders medications from pharmacy per facility policy. Checks in reordered drugs and medications.Provides support and consultation to resident families to assist them in problem solving and meeting resident personal needs.Insures an atmosphere which allows for privacy, dignity, and well-being of all residents in a safe, secure environment.Insures the confidentiality of all resident and/or employee related information.
