IKantKoan Games and Immersive Experiences is an award-winning indie studio creating playful, intimate experiences that explore complex and serious subject matter through compelling narratives, high levels of player agency, and profound humor and joy. We are a small team seeking to push the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of impact games and play. IKantKoan’s projects have been featured by NPR, TEDx, and The New York Times. Partners include The National Parks Service and The UPenn Environmental Humanities Program.
Company projects are:
-Impact driven
-Medium-agnostic; taking many forms/utilizing many platforms (projects have included digital games, tabletop games, theatrical productions, mobile games, RPGs, and LARPS)
-Play-based
-Innovative, experimental, and ambitious
-Intersectional; often working at the crossroads of games and complex subject matter like climate change, chaos theory, love, and philosophy
-Team-based and collaborative; requiring the skills and input of all involved at each step of the development process
In this role you will:
-Help bring a series of tabletop games from concept through product and distribution
-Research product development, vendors, the manufacturing pipeline, and game industry trends
-Oversee and participate in product management for existing and future game, particularly as it pertains to sustainable production systems (both company and environmental sustainability)
-Provide administrative assistance
-Offer creative and logistical input; you will be a core member of a small team and all voices are welcome and honored
-Work in a remote capacity in both a synchronous and asynchronous fashion
Requirements:
-Experience in product prototyping (physical and digital)
-Experience with organizational and project management tools (ie trello, airtable, notion, google drive, google sheets)
-Excellent, timely communicator;
-Self-starter; comes in with proposals and questions in equal(ish) measure
-Has internet access with video chat capabilities
-Ability to work remotely
-Ability to meet deadlines
-Strong organizational skills
-Interested in start-ups/grassroots company development
Beneficial, but not Required:
-Knowledge of Kickstarter, Patreon, and other crowd-funding platforms
-Interest in Graphic Design
-Knowledge of Airtable, Slack, Trello, specifically
-Passionate about games and immersive experiences including (but not limited to) RPG’s, LARP’s, tabletop games, video games, mobile games, immersive theater, and other forms of play
-Knowledge of Twine, itch.io, and other interactive narrative and gaming platforms/engines
