Please contact the Recruitment Director before submitting an application if you miss the deadlines; sagee@lutheranvolunteercorps.orgThe Lutheran Volunteer Corps is a community of faith uniting people to work for peace with justice. We pursue our mission by placing Volunteers in full-time service positions at social-justice organizations for one or two years. All LVC Volunteers are encouraged to live into LVC’s core spiritual practices of living simply and sustainably in intentional community while serving the cause of peace with justice. In its program, LVC places a particular emphasis on racism, oppression, and privilege and how these contribute to ongoing injustice in our society. It also explores the role that spirituality plays in inspiring and sustaining work in the quest for peace with justice. LVC places Volunteers in nonprofits across the United States in Baltimore, MD; Minneapolis, MN; St. Paul, MN; Washington, DC; and Wilmington, DE.  Serving alongside those in their placements, LVC Volunteers actively respond to the gifts and needs of their community members. Partnering with their placements, LVC Volunteers provide direct service, community organizing, indirect service, advocacy and public policy.About Lutheran Volunteer CorpsSpend a year or semester serving at a social justice non-profit, while exploring living in community, simply & sustainably, exploring spirituality.The Lutheran Volunteer Corps (LVC) places adults over 21 (“volunteers”) in full-time service positions at social-justice organizations for one or two years; or for semesters of 3-5 months. Volunteers are encouraged to explore LVC’s core principles: living simply and sustainably in intentional community while serving the cause of peace with justice. LVC provides a foundational learning experience around on racism, oppression, and privilege and how these intersect with social justice; and the role of spirituality in inspiring and sustaining leadership. LVC offers all Volunteers placement with a social justice nonprofit, health insurance, reimbursement for work-related travel, modest stipend, and access to the social justice learning series. Year-Volunteers live together in furnished group housing; while Flex Semester Volunteers are matched in the LVC cities where they live, meet weekly with their local Volunteer peer group, with housing based on availability. Successful applicants will be comfortable and eager to engage diverse constituents to advance LVC’s inclusive aspirations.
