In this role, you have the opportunity to
Innovate with high-end embedded technology to solve complex systems. You will have the opportunity to learn and innovate. Our team of engineers educate our interns and co-ops on the end-to-end design cycle from concept to production. You will be exposed to the architecture of the design and the techniques used on the module subsystems. These subsystems include: power supply design, high speed routing and signal integrity, clock architecture, memory architecture, peripheral IO (USB, SATA, Ethernet), data plane IO (Serial RapidIO, PCI Express, Ethernet, Infiniband).
You will support lead engineers to analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan layout, including type of computers and peripheral equipment modifications. You will build, test, and modify product prototypes as well as compile and evaluate design and test data and prepare technical specifications. Confer with engineering staff and consult specifications to evaluate interface between hardware and software and operational and performance requirements of overall system. Creatively design, develop and test/verify complex circuits, modules or systems to meet customer and market requirements. Work is independent with direction and collaborative in nature.
You are responsible for
Support of the design development and test of hardware products from concept to completion. You will work side-by-side with experienced electrical engineers to design and verify state-of-the-art technology for commercial, defense and intelligence applications. These products include Intel CPUs, NXP-Freescale PowerPCs, Xilinx and Intel-Altera FPGA’s, DDR4 Memory, and high-speed networks of 1G to 100G. Designs use high speed digital design interfaces such as Ethernet, PCIe, DDR Memory. Additionally, designs incorporate other support circuitry such as DC/DC power, Clocking, JTAG, SPI, I2C, UART/RS232.
You are a part of
A dedicated hardware electrical engineering team that collaborates within hardware and across the organization. The hardware electrical engineer is a focal local lead that bridges between program/product management, system/architecture engineering, mechanical/CAD, software, and manufacturing.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience
- Execute schematic checking manually and with automated analysis tools such as Mentor Valydate.
- Execute lab design verification test (DVT) and debug. Lab verification includes using tools such as power supplies, oscilloscopes (Tektronix, LeCroy), multi-meters (Fluke), and soldering rework equipment.
- Participate in the development and specification of new product HW/SW platform architectures.
- Ability to support detailed design specifications, test plans, and verification reports.
- Ability to support schematic development using Cadence DEHDL (Concept).
- Ability to support Engineering Services CAD and Signal Integrity (SI) teams with PCB Rules and Cadence Allegro Layout.
- Lead and participate in design reviews.
- Develop schematics for and specify printed circuit board layouts for new designs.
- Use of HW LAB tools: Oscilloscopes and DVMs for verification & debug.
- Experience with schematic capture for legacy designs with Mentor Graphics DXDesigner (ViewDraw).
- Some experience with Atlassian Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence, HipChat)
- Design and analysis for component stress and derating.
