MRV Consulting is offering engineering undergraduates an opportunity to gain professional development experience in the business consulting field. As an Associate Consultant in our Machinery and Technical Specialties practice, you will gain experience in valuation, cost segregation studies, purchase price allocation, and appraisal assignments while applying your engineering knowledge to address business-related matters.
Essential Responsibilities
- Develop cost estimation of construction projects, machinery and equipment, commercial and industrial facilities, and utilities utilizing costing manuals such as Handy-Whitman, Marshall & Swift, and RS Means
- Analyze technical specifications, site plans, engineering and construction drawings, construction payment requisitions, and other documentation
- Data consolidation (research, collect, verify completeness, reliability, and accuracy)
- Prepare blueprint and quantity takeoffs, spreadsheets, and reports
- Participate in site visits
- Timely delivery of high-quality work products
- Client interfacing related to research and information requests
- Maintain and develop positive, productive, and professional relationship
Required Qualifications/Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial).
- Outstanding research, analytical, and spreadsheet skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
- Able to travel within the US and internationally
- Professional demeanor, integrity, respect, and teamwork
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and Acrobat
- Prior work experience is not required as on-the-job training is provided
- Integrate engineering knowledge with valuation and appraisal techniques
- Fluency in English (add cover letter as an attachment or together with your resume as one document)
- Interest in the business consulting field
- Knowledge/Interest in energy and utilities, electric power generation, commercial and industrial real estate
