Job Summary:

In partnership with our esteemed psychiatry partners, we are seeking a Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our psychogeriatric medical team. Experience in psychiatry is preferred but not required.
Nurse Practitioners (NPs) are advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) with advanced clinical training, providing direct patient care in various settings. At NurseAmerica, our NPs work closely with physicians and other health providers, offering a range of services, including diagnosing and treating conditions, prescribing medications, and coordinating patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments of psychogeriatric patients, including their medical history and current health status.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
- Administer medications and monitor patients for any side effects.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Participate in community engagement activities to advocate for mental health care and educate the public.
- Attend treatment team meetings and contribute to the development of care goals.
- Engage in crisis intervention to stabilize and manage acute patient care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with established standards.
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in nursing (MSN) from an accredited program.
- Active Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in the state of Virginia.
- Board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) preferred but not required.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
- Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence-based practice.
