The Nurse Manager performs a critical role in formulating plans that relate to quality patient care outcomes. Management responsibility includes system, process, materials and human resources and delegated responsibilities from the CNO/ADON related to operational and personnel activities of the unit. Supporting and counseling the unit staff are key functions to interfacing resources within the patient care delivery model. The Nurse Manager facilitates staff development, provides direct feedback regarding staff performance and provides leadership to the patient care team. The Nurse Manager collaborates with the medical staff, administration and other support departments to achieve the patient and family care objective. Three or more years of clinical nursing experience in psychiatric nursing with a sound knowledge base required. License to practice as a registered nurse by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing required. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing preferred. Must demonstrate strong leadership skills and clinical competency. Should be able to demonstrate knowledge of management techniques, the nursing process, interpersonal relationship skills and group dynamics. Must express self clearly in writing, speaking and manner. Must maintain a professional attitude and demeanor and communicate effectively and easily with all levels of staff. Must be self-directed and a self-starter. Must be able to work projects through from idea to implementation and evaluation. Demonstrates visionary and creative thinking ability. Basic computer skills required.
