BUILD YOUR CAREER FOUNDATIONPublic Financial Management (PFM) is seeking an intern to work in our Management & Budget Consulting (MBC) Group in Philadelphia, PA.The MBC Group turns analysis into results for complex government clients by providing financial, budgetary, operations, and management consultation. Since 1993, MBC has been involved in some of the most significant government turnaround efforts in the country, turning sizable deficits into surpluses in cities, counties and states.ResponsibilitiesIntern work contributes directly to projects and advises real policy decisions made by government leaders. Interested candidates should be creative problem solvers ready to help government leaders tackle real problems that matter to their communities.Some areas in which MBC interns work include:Benchmarking and measuring performance of state and municipal governments including large cities, counties, and school districts;Analyzing data, including demographic, economic, and budgetary trends that signal current and future fiscal and operational challenges;Conducting research on innovative government practices that improve services to residents or reduce costs for taxpayers; andThe ideal candidate will have strong writing and research skills, the ability to perform quantitative analysis, and an interest in government, and will be comfortable working in Excel and speaking with government staff on the phone or in person.Summer internship positions are full time (35-40 hours per week). Compensation is $16-$20 per hour depending on academic tenure/experience.
