This is a Social Worker & Subject Matter Expert role at a stealth venture launching out of Redesign. Our mission is to improve the lives of patients with serious conditions through the most meaningful support.
About the Role-We believe that every patient should have access to the support they need, when they need it, and we are committed to building a company that makes that a reality. Today, we are focused on building a platform that helps patients overcome the overwhelm of cancer by connecting them to meaningful support, products, and services at every point in their treatment. As our first clinical hire, you will serve as the primary patient supporter at the company, regularly engaging with patients both live and asynchronously through email and a text messaging platform. You will leverage your professional mental health counseling skills and knowledge of community resources to help manage their diagnoses and treatment journeys. Simultaneously, you will partner with operations and product as a subject matter expert to help inform company best practices and methodologies for interacting with patients and caregivers going forward. We are looking for someone proactive with an entrepreneurial spirit whose passion is providing patients with the best possible support and care. You should be open to startup environments and be excited about building a new product to help patients connect with the tools and support they need to take control of their lives after a cancer diagnosis. Please note: this is a part time (~15 hrs/week), contractor role and will be remote
Responsibilities:Directly communicate through digital channels (email, chat + voice) to work with patients and caregivers at various stages of their cancer diagnoses and treatments.Work with patients to provide emotional support and guidance on products and services to help mitigate side effects.Listen deeply to, and also empathize and connect with patients and caregivers to continuously build rapport and trust.Approach every conversation with warmth and a positive attitude Aggregate and synthesize patient interactions and feedback to drive a product roadmap. Partner with operations to identify best practices and standardize processes within the product and for future patient support team.Work cross-functionally and collaboratively with teams to improve the product, share insights, and develop best practices for supporting patients
Relevant Experience:2+ years of demonstrated experience with patients in a clinical social services setting Demonstrated excellent written/verbal communication skills and virtual “bedside” manner,Ph.D. in Psychology, Psy.D. in Psychology or Master of Social Work (MSW) degree from an accredited institution,Current license or eligibility for licensure as a Master Social Worker (MSW) or psychologist,Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal,Board of Oncology Social Work Certification (OSW-C) preferred,Previous experience with the oncology patients and families is preferred,Previous experience in an entrepreneurial setting is a plus! Have creative problem-solving skills that can be leveraged to empower others.Have the flexibility to support change and the organization skills to follow through
