Our engineers start a project from initial customer concepts, design a system into a clear engagement, and see the design through to implementation. The ideal candidate is unafraid of exposure to a wide variety of problems and tasks, and has a tenacious attitude to problem solving and project execution. This is someone who can work in small teams for large goals and is not intimidated by a big challenge.Responsibilities:Lead design efforts for electronic systems, including architecture and implementation detailsSchematic capture and PCB layoutPart selection, evaluate components and compare alternative solutionsInterface definition, connector selection, and harness drawingsDesign high-current load drivers including motor and solenoid valve driversPower supply design: switching regulators, isolated supplies, stability, noise, and characterizationCircuit simulationThermal analysis of designs and sizing of thermal management systemsDesign of sensor interfaces and analog front-ends for data acquisition systemsBoard bring-up and troubleshootingWrite and execute test plans for device validation and performance characterizationParticipate in design reviews at all stages of project developmentScoping, coordinating. scheduling, and budgeting design workContribute to improvements in Electronic System Design ProcessesProvide design, testing, and manufacturing technical support for existing projectsRequired Skills and Experience:University Degree (Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Math, related field)1-5 years of related project and internship experienceDemonstrated lifelong passion for engineering and technologyExperience in a team-based design and build project (Ex: Formula SAE, solar house, solar car, cube satellite)Analog small-signal circuit design: filters, op-amp circuits, signal conditioningAnalog power electronics design: regulators, load drivers, supply filters, protection circuitrySchematic capture and PCB layout experience, preferably using Altium DesignerInterfacing with PCB and assembly vendors to have designs fabricatedFamiliar with Git and SVN for revision controlWorking knowledge of embedded systems: microcontrollers, ADCs and DACs, common communication interfaces like UART, SPI and I2C.Working knowledge of either audio, RF, electromechanical, or optical systemsAbility to synthesize critical technical details into risks and actions items Preferred Skills and Experience:Large-format or high-density or high-layer-count PCB design experienceComfortable with Linux systems and desktop environmentFamiliarity with Python and/or MATLAB for data parsing and signal analysisExperience with automated test systems or qualification testing for aerospace or automotive Additional Requirements:Applicant must be willing to work 40 hours a week onsite in El Segundo, CAApplicant must be eligible to work on ITAR projects.Job Type: Full-time (Paid)ITAR Requirements:To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
