SSOE Group is seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer for our award-winning Hillsboro, OR office.The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for supporting detailed phases of engineering work on major projects or total engineering work on projects of smaller or moderate scope. An ideal candidate will be a proven self-starter that demonstrates strong leadership and comprehension skills.Primary Duties & Responsibilities:Execute mechanical design from conceptual design and criteria development through construction document production and provide engineering support during construction.Assist with the development of mechanical system layouts, equipment sizing, selection and associated specification and scope of work write-up.Assist with the development of mechanical system start-up and commissioning documents. Including but not limited to process mechanical systems (compressed air, process vacuum, etc).Assist with the performance of plumbing and/or schematic fire protection design on selected projects.Assist with the design of air systems, fans, ducting and dampers (Experience with hot, saturated and particulate air a plus).Assist with the development of specifications and construction contract documents.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering, which qualifies for licensure in the state of practice, is required.Must have ability to interface with customers to define scope of work and basis of design.Knowledge of HVAC, Pumping, Chiller and Boiler systems, including design and operation.Experience with Revit and AutoCAD is preferred.Knowledge of fluid dynamics required.Knowledge of PipeFlo or similar hydraulic modeling software preferred.Knowledge of piping support design preferred.Knowledge of pipe stress analysis highly desirable. This includes both manual calculations and computer simulations.Self-motivation to clarify scope of work, anticipate issues, propose options and find cost-effective or schedule driven solutions.Problem-solving and flexibility in fast-paced environment.Practical field-experience with active involvement in construction areas preferred.
