Superbrewed Food Inc. is looking for research assistant interns who will perform routine tasks in bacterial fermentation. All interns will also perform laboratory maintenance tasks, and report writing for management.
This is a paid, non-benefited temporary internship position with the potential to become a longer-term position pending funding and performance. Hours range from 20-40 hours a week depending upon the intern’s availability. The position will require a regular schedule to be determined.
More specific tasks may include 1) preparing, inoculating, sampling, monitoring and cleaning bioreactors; 2) DNA plasmid construction, transformations and verification of mutant strains; and 3) fermentation media preparation.
Introductory, college level understanding of biology and chemistry, advanced algebra level of math, and experience with Microsoft Word and Excel are required. Ideal intern candidates will have an advanced understanding of microbiology and molecular biology, particularly some understanding of aseptic, microbiology techniques. We also require showing up on time to work, a routine work schedule, and an ability to work well in teams. Candidates must have or show significant promise to conduct superb laboratory documentation, follow all safety procedures, and maintain a clean working environment.
