OVERVIEW:
The D. E. Shaw group seeks sharp, detail-oriented, and intellectually curious students to join our Investor Relations (IR) team as interns in New York. This position provides you with unique exposure to the firm’s investment strategies, products, and clients. You’ll collaborate with an inclusive, global team of investor relations professionals to help you learn, grow, and gain a deeper understanding of what it’s like to work with us. IR interns who join the firm full-time after graduation may have the flexibility to work at our office locations in New York, London, or Hong Kong.
WHAT YOU’LL DO DAY-TO-DAY:
As an IR intern, you’ll help hone various communication efforts, conduct prospect- and investor-focused research, complete a variety of special projects, and attend calls and videoconferences with colleagues and investors. This role will allow you to exercise existing strengths and develop new ones through rigorous, detail-oriented training and hands-on experience.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
• We’re interested in accomplished students who are approaching their final year of full-time study, and enthusiastically welcome those with liberal arts backgrounds (English, literature, history, political science, etc.).
• Outstanding communication skills, excellent analytical skills, impressive organizational abilities, an extraordinary sensitivity to detail, and a demonstrated record of intellectual achievement are all required.
• Candidates should have the ability to grasp financial concepts; experience with finance is definitely not necessary, but a general interest in financial markets is an advantage.
• While interns will be based in New York, we welcome applications from those who’d be interested in working in either our London or Hong Kong offices in a full-time capacity following graduation and the successful completion of our internship.
