Rule of Law Index – Program AssociatePosition: The World Justice Project’s (WJP) Rule of Law Index team is seeking a full-time Program Associate to work in the WJP’s office in Washington DC. This is a current vacancy, with an immediate start. Responsibilities: The Program Associate will report directly to the Rule of Law Index Senior Program Associate and will provide crucial support for the Rule of Law Index team. The Program Associate will assist with research and data analysis, and other long-term projects on the status of the rule of law in different countries as well as on the mechanisms by which the rule of law operates and affects economic and political life. This position will focus primarily on the expert side of data collection for the Rule of Law Index. The main responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:· Coordinate the primary data collection process for the Qualified Respondents Questionnaire (QRQ) expert surveys administered in 128 countries for the annual Rule of Law Index report;· Prepare survey instrument tools for the annual QRQ administration, including software and IT platforms hosting QRQ data collection and communications materials;· Manage various online data collection platforms and CRM databases, including SurveyGizmo, Mail Chimp, and Microsoft Dynamics;· Create, manage, and track correspondence with previous QRQ contributors, and with non-respondent legal experts identified as potential QRQ expert contributors in countries to be included in the Rule of Law Index, to increase QRQ data response rates;· Contribute to the research, analysis, writing, and design of the WJP’s Rule of Law Index annual report series;· Help to manage administrative processes for the research team, including contract negotiations, payment processes, and day to day administration of consultant and vendor contracts;· Contribute to projects and activities as they relate to alternative data collection efforts, data presentation, and data visualization;· Provide general programmatic support, including research, editing and proofreading documents and presentations, assisting with Index calendar management, and coordinating logistics for travel and meetings;· Assist Senior Program Associate with the management of a team of Rule of Law Index interns (two to five interns depending on the time of year), including with on-boarding and training processes;· Undertake rule of law research and analysis as necessary.Qualifications: This position is open to graduates (B.A. or M.A.) with a minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA, with excellent attention to detail and strong writing and research skills. International experience and foreign language skills are preferred. The ideal candidate will have completed coursework in international affairs, social sciences, journalism, economics, policy studies, regional studies, or pre-law. Successful applicants will have two to three years of relevant experience, and be bright, highly dependable, and motivated with a strong academic track record and an enthusiastic interest in the rule of law. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and qualifications: Strong skills in CRM database management, online survey software and IT platforms, and Microsoft Office; Strong professional writing, research, and communication skills;Experience with or knowledge of survey methodology and design;Experience working with quantitative survey data is preferred. This includes data cleaning, validation, analysis, and visualization; The ability to manage large databases (strong skills in Microsoft Excel required; experience with and knowledge of STATA, SPSS, R, or other statistical analysis software is a plus);Experience working in a fast-paced, multicultural environment; English fluency is required; fluency in an additional language (including Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Russian) is a plus;Experience recruiting, training, and managing interns is preferred;The ability to work independently as well as in group settings, the ability to manage his or her own workload, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under deadline pressure.Commitment to the WJP’s mission and principles (www.worldjusticeproject.org).Physical RequirementsWhile performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is frequently required to use finger dexterity as well as sufficient hand dexterity to use a computer keyboard and be capable of reading a computer screen.
