Yay Clay! is expanding and looking for new wheel throwing instructors. We are looking for highly skilled potters and ceramic artists who are looking to make a career in ceramics.
New instructors work part time one or two classes per week and most classes are in the evening or on weekends. Training consists of shadowing and assisting our more experiences teachers to learn how our classes are taught. The classes are demanding. Training for someone with prior teaching experience usually last a month. We are open to candidates without teaching experience, but they may take longer to train. All training time is paid. Once the new instructor demonstrates they can handle a class by themselves, pay increases significantly.
All teachers and staff are encouraged to use the studio to create work that furthers their skill set an career in the arts. They get free open studio time and materials at cost or free.
Qualified applicants will need to demonstrate proficiency on the pottery wheel, and be able to explain what they are doing. There will be a skills test!
