Making the Most of Career Services Communications

We know that you get LOTS of communications from all over Penn and at times in can be overwhelming.  Here are TWO QUICK STEPS you can take to make sure that the information you receive from Career Services is targeted to your specific career interests!

  • Complete (or update!) your Handshake profile.  Log in using your PennKey and click on your initials or picture in the upper right corner. Fill out the Career Interests section as completely as possible.  This will help to ensure that the job and internship suggestions that are highlighted on your Handshake homepage are aligned with your interests.  The Career Services staff also uses this information to occasionally send targeted messages to students who we think would be interested in a particular opportunity.  While in Handshake, we also encourage you to complete your Profile which you can do quickly by uploading your resume.  You can then make your profile viewable to employers so that they can contact you directly about opportunities that might be of interest.  You can adjust your privacy settings under the Settings link.
  • Complete (or update!) your profile on the Career Services website.  Our automated weekly newsletters (Penn Career Services Weekly Digest – Jobs, Events, News and More!) are generated uniquely for each student.  Click Login in the top right and log in using your PennKey and then select Preferences to indicate what types of content you would like to receive. You can choose from a variety of blog categories, types of positions (job, internship), over 25 industry categories, 10 affinity options (i.e. students of color, students with disabilities, athletes, international students and more!), and Next Step Communities (such as applying to graduate or professional school). Your personalized newsletter matching your interests will arrive in your inbox each Friday morning!

Of course, there are lots of other ways to keep up with all that Career Services has to offer including on Twitter, on our CS Radio Podcast or on Instagram!
