Explore Consulting

Consulting is a big umbrella term, and there are a lot of things that can fall into it. Are you interested in management consulting at a big firm that might require travel? Or are you looking for a boutique firm that does healthcare consulting specifically? What about internal consulting where you may work for one company? These are all great questions to ask yourself when exploring the industry. Check out Vault Guides to learn more about the industry and differences between these options.

Apply for internships and jobs

Many consulting firms will post their internships and jobs on Handshake. You can see which firms are conducing interviews on campus, application deadlines and upcoming events. It’s smart to attend information sessions, Career fairs and other related events to learn more about the company and show your interest in person.

Prepare for Case Interviews

Consulting is unique in how they do interviews. Case interviews are a big part of the process – this is a way for the employer to present you with a business problem you may encounter on the job, and learn more about how you would solve the problem. On the Career Resources section of this page, we have a bunch of resources to get you started in your case prep. Once you’ve read through some materials, it’s time to get some practice with friends. Practice is the most important part of the process, and you can also sign up to do a mock case with your advisor.

Consulting Resources

On this page, we’ve compiled many resources to help you prepare for a career in consulting. Of particular interest should be our Case Interview Guide, and Management Consulted, which gives you access to 500+ cases, 10K+ case structure & math drills, 8 online video courses, and 11 industry primers.
