Who’s Hiring? 9 Organizations Advocating for the LGBTQ+ Community

Who’s Hiring? 9 Organizations Advocating for the LGBTQ+ Community was originally published on Idealist Careers.

June is widely-recognized as Pride Month, kicking off a series of events and parades to recognize the LGBTQ+ community. But before Pride became a worldwide celebration, it was a protest.

In 1969, the Stonewall Riots initiated a major turning point in the Gay Liberation movement as police forces clashed with members of the LGBTQ+ community, who felt they were being unjustly targeted and harassed. Today, the anniversary of Stonewall is celebrated every June to acknowledge the achievements of LGBTQ+ people and the ongoing work to secure equal rights.

We’ve rounded up a list of nine organizations across the social-impact sector that have dedicated their missions to achieving this reality. From launching community programs in support of queer youth to spreading awareness about anti-LGBTQ+ legislation, these organizations are committed to embodying the values of Pride Month, year round.
