Oh the weather outside is frightful…but it’s time to be thinking about the summer! NOW is the time when theaters and performing arts centers around the country begin the application process for their summer internships, fellowships, and apprenticeships. Whether you’re looking to be on stage, backstage, or in the front office, there are opportunities aplenty! While many of these opportunities are for current students, several of the companies below also have year-long apprenticeships for graduating seniors, that will give you the chance to work in a variety of roles over the course of the year and help you better understand the inner workings of a professional theater company!
Philadelphia is a city alive with the performing arts! Several of our world-class theaters such as The Arden, The Walnut Street Theater, Philadanco and The Kimmel Cultural Campus all have internship and apprenticeship programs year-round. These opportunities are available directly through their websites. FringeArts – organizers of the Philly Fringe Festival and year long fringe performances, often has positions posted in Handshake for school year and summer positions!
We want to especially highlight the positions available through Penn Live Arts, which include funding. Other positions may be eligible for the funding through the Career Services Summer Funding Program.
If you’re looking to look outside Philadelphia, however, Handshake is the place to look for a variety of exciting theatrical opportunities! Here are just a few sample companies who currently have jobs posted in Handshake. Click to view open jobs.
