My Summer Studying Radar

Yunshuang Li, Masters of Robotics, 2024

Over the summer, I had the opportunity to lead a significant project involving radar sensors for system identification. This experience was truly enriching as it allowed me to coordinate efforts across three different labs: my own, the radar lab, and the lab where I needed access to a motion capture system. This multi-lab collaboration enhanced my skills in project management and coordination.

Furthermore, I saw significant personal growth in my coding, theoretical understanding, and communication skills. The hands-on work with radar sensors and system identification not only improved my technical capabilities but also honed my ability to convey complex ideas effectively.

I’m immensely grateful for the support I received from GAPSA funding, which relieved me of financial concerns and allowed me to focus wholeheartedly on my project. The opportunity to delve into this research was invaluable, and I look forward to building upon the knowledge and skills I’ve gained in the future.

This is part of a series of posts by recipients of the 2023 GAPSA Summer Internship Funding Program that is coordinated by Penn Career Services. We’ve asked funding recipients to reflect on their summer experiences and talk about the industries in which they spent their summer. You can read the entire series here.
