Welcome to the Galleries, Libraries, Archives, & Museums Community!
Galleries, Libraries, Archives, and Museums, also known by the acronym G.L.A.M, are organizations dedicated to the display, use, and preservation of objects, materials, and the ideas they embody.
Many institutions these days are multi-hyphenate and may contain departments that fulfill all of these categories (like Penn). They can range from small operations like a house museum to large national institutions like the Smithsonian. There are also a whole host of G.L.A.M. adjacent organizations like The Clay Studio or Fleischer Art Memorial in Philadelphia. We also have our Media, Journalism & Entertainment and Fine Arts, Performing Arts & Music communities that cover related aspects of the arts.
The following sampling of tools and resources should be combined with your own research. We suggest you use targeted keyword searches to find representative employers and opportunities, explore professional associations, join LinkedIN groups, and browse additional job board postings. Remember to also search LinkedIn and MyPenn (formerly QuakerNet) to connect with Penn alumni in fields related to your interests. Additionally, the sample jobs and employers are only a small selection of what’s posted in Handshake – log in to see much more!
We also suggest using the Career Exploration section of our website for more information or researching by major.
