Job Summary
The Research Scientist will, in collaboration with the Institute for Water and Health (IWH) multidisciplinary team, co-design and carry out research projects that address issues related to water quality, water and wastewater management with a specific focus on risk assessment in Coastal Georgia. The Research Scientist will have access to state-of-the-art water environment research laboratory facilities, resources, and IWH networks.
Employment contingent on availability of funds.
Responsibilities
• Conduct high impact research on water quality and health risk assessment
• Oversee field and laboratory research for ongoing and new research projects
• Analyze and visualize data using computational tools and models
• Assist with external research funding applications
• Disseminate research results to scientific audiences through peer-reviewed journal articles, conference presentations, and other media
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
• PhD
Required Experience
• Three (3) or more years of related experience
• Excellent laboratory skills in microbiological and/or chemical analysis
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of field experience
• Excellent computational skills, risk assessment, data visualization
• Experience with GIS tools
• Experience with supervising students and training staff on laboratory techniques
Proposed Salary
$70,000 – $80,000
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
