Consider working as a research associate at the Alzheimer’s Center at Temple, Lewis Katz School of Medicine.
We are currently looking for a research associate to conduct investigations into the causes of Alzheimer’s disease and macular degeneration. Training will be provided. The person recruited for this position will:
- Work with mice and develop new humanized mouse models
- Work with human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells
- Analyze human brain tissue
- Work with human immortalized cell lines
The recruited individual will employ a wide range of techniques, including:
- Directional differentiation of iPS cells to specific cell types
- CRISPR/Cas9 to delete genes in iPS and other cells
- qPCR using Taqman probes
- Cell transfection by lipid reagents and electroporation
- Immunohistochemistry, Western immunoblotting, ELISA, DNA electrophoresis, DNA cloning and plasmid construction, PCR
- Other specialized techniques as needed
- Statistical analysis
You need experience in a technique that is not listed above? Please let us know – if we have the ability to do it, we will come up with a project using that technique so that you could gain experience.
Temple requires that an applicant for this position has 6 months of research experience. Any undergraduate research work (summer internship, volunteering in a lab, etc) will be counted as experience. But even if you have very little experience – no worries, you could work with us as a temp at first to earn those months of experience and then transfer to the research association position.
Minimum requirements are a BS degree in a biology-related field. The selected individual will be detailed-oriented, well-organized, creative and curious about nature and causes of diseases.
This position has the grade of T23. Salary for this grade is: minimum- $32,000, 25%tile – $39,995, 50%tile – $46,075, 75%tile – $53,625, depending on experience (https://careers.temple.edu/sites/careers/files/documents/T_Salary_Structure.pdf).
