Westfield Capital is seeking a Research Analyst to contribute to the coverage of publicly-traded companies, focused on the Industrials, Materials, and Energy sectors. The ideal candidate is a college graduate or experienced professional (0-3 years) wishing to make significant contributions to a growth equity portfolio within a collaborative environment at a growing Boston-based investment management firm. While the position is structured as a two-to-three-year pre-MBA style program, we value talent and dedication, and there is potential for outstanding candidates to extend their tenure beyond this initial term.
Responsibilities:
- Build and update detailed Excel-based financial and valuation models. Assist in the creation of Powerpoint-based investment committee memos
- Attend industry conferences and conduct site visits to meet with senior executives and investor relations personnel of leading companies
- Interact with sell-side research analysts, consultants, and industry contacts to diligence investment theses
- Conduct maintenance research on news impactful to existing and prospective portfolio holdings. Analyze and preview quarterly earnings reports
- Maintain proprietary databases tracking earnings estimates and price targets of existing holdings, industry metrics, and important industry sector trends and themes
Required Qualifications:
- 0-3 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, and/or public or private equity investing
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and familiarity with market data providers (Factset, Bloomberg)
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Self-starter, with strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and high level of energy to complete assignments quickly and accurately
- Maturity to represent the firm in communications with C-level executives at leading public companies, as well as interface internally with other senior portfolio managers
- Collaborative team player with high ethical standards
- Passionate about public market investing
- Bachelor’s degree
Compensation
Base salary and participation in the Westfield Capital staff bonus pool (commensurate on personal performance and subject to the profitability of Westfield) and the Westfield 401(K). Westfield Capital also offers comprehensive health and dental coverage including payment of 90% towards insurance premiums.
