How to answer the “tell me about yourself” and “greatest strength/weakness” questions

The “tell me about yourself” question is usually one of the first questions you will be asked in your next interview, and should be easy (given that you have been you for decades!), but many applicants find this to be a challenging question to answer. Whether it is just nerves at the start of the interview, or the challenge of trying to summarize so much information in 2 minutes, this question can feel hard. We will highlight approaches you can take to answer this question confidently in a way that provides a solid foundation for the rest of your interview.
In mock interviews at Career Services, students often seem more eager to list their weaknesses and less comfortable highlighting their strengths when faced with different types of strengths/weakness questions. We will highlight effective approaches and resources to help you be confident about sharing your relevant strengths, and connecting these to the role you are interviewing for. We will also cover strategies for answering weakness questions that are authentic, but that leave the interviewer with a positive takeaway.
